Junior Seminar
The Renormalization Group approach to Constructive Quantum Field Theory".

Abstract:
Quantum Field Theory (QFT) is one of the most successful theoretical frameworks ever developed in physics. It can be applied to an astonishingly wide range of physical phenomena, spanning from high energy physics to condensed matter systems. Despite its successes, QFT is far from being mathematically well understood: decades after their formulation, many physically relevant models still lack a rigorous mathematical definition.

Rigorous Renormalization Group is a powerful constructive technique that can be used to put a large class of QFTs on mathematically solid grounds. After a brief introduction to the basic formalism of Feynman diagrams, I will present Renormalization Group as a natural solution to the problem of constructing a consistent perturbative expansion for a weakly interacting QFT. Most of the discussion will focus on the Phi4 theory in four spacetime dimensions.
